Water Quality Project Reflection
• What new information did you learn through doing this project? I am interested in 1-2 paragraphs summarizing your new understanding of your topic.
I honestly didn't learn a lot of new content. This may be due to my personal and home life problems. I did learn about the fragile balance in rivers, how delicate the balance is between heterotrophic and autotrophic bacteria. I learned how the butterfly effects plays such a huge part in our systems. Agriculture drains into the water and then destroys the recreational ability of the water because of E. coli.
• What new skills or dispositions did you learn from this project?
I honestly cannot think of any. I believe this is from my personal issues. Maybe, I was able to separate my personal life from projects a bit more.
• To what extent is the study of water quality an important topic to investigate in school and in a chemistry class in particular? Consider that you are citizens, soon to be of voting age, of this city, state and country.
I do believe it is important, with fresh water sources being used so much and the resource beginning to run this. My generation should know how it works and find create new ways to purify said water. The only thing I wish is that we had a longer amount of time to create more in depth prototypes. Something that we could really make a difference with. Not just showing the process but being able to create a new more efficient process, that could change the world.
